Job Summary
This role is responsible for administering and supporting enterprise AIX systems and SAN storage infrastructure to ensure high availability, performance, and reliability of critical platforms. The position covers system installation, configuration, performance tuning, automation, storage provisioning, backup, and disaster recovery, while ensuring compliance with security and operational standards. The role works closely with infrastructure, database, and application teams to support complex, mission‑critical environments.
Job description
AIX System Administration
- Install, configure, and maintain IBM AIX systems, including PowerVM and VIO servers.
- Optimize system performance via kernel tuning, resource management, and workload balancing.
- Manage user access, authentication, and system hardening to meet compliance standards.
- Handle OS patching, firmware upgrades, and system migrations with minimal service disruption.
- Resolve system errors, kernel panics, and hardware/software issues.
- Administer LVM, JFS2 file systems, and backup/recovery solutions (e.g., IBM Spectrum Protect).
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using shell scripting and Ansible.
SAN Storage Administration
- Configure, monitor, and manage enterprise SAN storage (IBM, Dell EMC, NetApp, Hitachi, Pure Storage, HPE 3PAR).
- Optimize storage performance through zoning, multipathing, and RAID configuration.
- Provision LUNs and manage storage replication, snapshots, and backup strategies.
- Administer connectivity using FC, iSCSI, and NVMe protocols.
- Support backup and disaster recovery plans and resolve storage-related issues.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline.
- Certifications (preferred): IBM Certified System Administrator – AIX, IBM Certified Specialist – Storage Solutions, Vendor certifications (NetApp, Dell EMC, Hitachi, Pure Storage, etc.)
- 5+ years in system administration across AIX and SAN environments.
- In-depth experience with IBM Power Systems, PowerVM, LPARs, and VIO management.
- Strong storage infrastructure background: provisioning, tuning, replication, and DR.
- Skilled in kernel and performance tuning, diagnostics, and incident resolution.
- Proficient in scripting (Bash, Python) and automation using Ansible.
- Working knowledge of enterprise networking, VLANs, and security practices.
- Familiarity with Oracle Databases, Exadata, and Linux-based high availability/clustering.
